First Visit

I made my first visit to Oakhill on Friday 06/04/18 and was really impressed by its size accessibility and diversity . I was accompanied by my 86 year old pal so the paths were a godsend as heavy terrain takes its toll on both of us.

As soon as we started on the path from the car park we were greeted by a laugh from a Green Woodpecker and this was soon followed by a good view of a Marsh Harrier then a Buzzard. We continued our walk around the lake then back to the car park on this journey we heard our first Willow Warbler and Black Cap of the year, brilliant. We also had views of Chiffchaff and Brambling plus of course all the other more common feathered friends.

We left some of the walks for another day when the foliage will be more developed.
We hope to see or hear Turtle Dove soon as they have almost disappeared from our usual walk at Kiplingcoates.

Well done for developing and maintaining Oakhill and we are already looking forward to another visit soon.
